John Rex Polytechnic High School is a public charter high school that will combine rigorous academics with applied, real-world learning, connecting students with the people, institutions and industries of Oklahoma City.

Students will build a strong academic foundation while learning to apply what they know through interdisciplinary projects, authentic challenges, community partnerships and experiences beyond the classroom.

What Does “Polytechnic” Mean?

Students won't have to choose between strong academics and real-world preparation. They'll experience both.

At John Rex Polytechnic High School, students will:

  • Complete rigorous coursework aligned with Oklahoma graduation requirements and college expectations.

  • Apply what they learn through interdisciplinary projects and authentic challenges.

  • Learn alongside businesses, higher education and community partners.

  • Explore interests while building skills that prepare them for college, careers and life.

  • Graduate with evidence of what they know and what they can do.

John Rex Polytechnic High School is designed for students ready to be active participants in a rigorous, collaborative and applied learning environment. It may not be the right fit for every student.

Five Concentrations

Students will have opportunities to explore their interests and pursue deeper learning through five concentrations:

Engineering

Engineering

Design, systems and prototyping with connections to aerospace, energy, advanced manufacturing, construction and technology.

Biomedicine

Biomedicine

Life science, investigation and human health with connections to healthcare, biotechnology, public health and medical research.

Cybersecurity

Computer Science

Networks, data, digital defense and ethical computing with connections to software, cybersecurity, government, finance and critical infrastructure.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship

Opportunity, value creation and communication with connections to business development, innovation, finance, marketing and social enterprise.

Interdisciplinary Academics

Interdisciplinary Academics

A college-focused concentration combining advanced coursework across disciplines with opportunities for Advanced Placement, concurrent enrollment, significant transferable college credit and progress toward - or potential completion of - an associate degree.

Downtown Is Part of the Experience

Our location at 615 N. Hudson Avenue places students in the heart of Oklahoma City - and near businesses, healthcare systems, universities, nonprofits, civic institutions and industries that can become part of their education.

Potential experiences may include mentorships, job shadowing, real-world projects, work-based learning and connections with professionals throughout the community.
