We had an amazing time exploring the Museum of Osteology exhibit set up at the library! The students loved getting an up-close look at all of the different skeletons. So many curious minds had big questions—such a fun and engaging learning experience!

All the feels… 💛🎓
Did you know it’s just a few days until 8th grade graduation? Time is flying!
Recently, our 8th grade students had the opportunity to leave their mark—literally—by painting their handprint along with their name and the high school they’ll be attending next year. 🖐️✨
It’s a beautiful reminder of where they’ve been and all the exciting places they’re about to go. We are so proud of our 8th graders and can’t wait to celebrate them soon! 🎉

Come TODAY after school to help chalk the sidewalk!

This morning about 85 members of our John Rex community participated in the 2026 Memorial Kids Marathon to remember and honor the 31st anniversary of the Murray Bombing. Thank you to all the families who participated and made it such a huge success!

4th Grade Makes a Splash! with H2Oklahoma. Learning about Oklahoma's water systems and water habitation. 4th grade is making waves with H2Oklahoma! 💧 Classes visited Will Rogers Gardens and dove into Oklahoma’s water systems and explored how living things depend on water habitats to survive. From rivers to reservoirs, these young scientists are building real-world understanding of the water that sustains our communities.

This week, Mrs. Chandler and our 3rd–6th grade students are wrapping up their roller skating unit in PE! A big thank you to Skatetime for providing skates and protective equipment over the past few weeks, giving our students a fun and memorable experience.

Celebrating our amazing Assistant Principal, Miss A, this week!💙🧡 We are so lucky to have her at John Rex—she leads with heart, supports with kindness, and goes above and beyond for our students, staff, and families every single day. From the big moments to the little things no one sees, she does it all with a smile and so much love. Thank you, Miss A, for being the steady, caring, and inspiring leader our school depends on. We appreciate you more than words can say!

Our Junior High Rocket Rangers spent time this week volunteering at the Oklahoma City Zoo! Rocket Rangers are student leaders on all three of our campuses who serve our school and community!

Ms. Feken & Ms. Basinger’s classes had 4 days of swimming, safety, and smiles with the YMCA’s SAW (Safety Around Water) program teaching life-saving water skills! 🏊♀️💙

Our 3rd Grade Rocket Rangers put leadership into action as they volunteered at the Salvation Army, preparing sack lunches for our friends in the downtown community. 🚀💙 This was more than just a service project—it was a powerful opportunity for our students to show what leadership looks like beyond our school walls. By stepping up to serve others, they truly lived out our commitment to immersing ourselves in our community and making a meaningful impact. We are so proud of the compassion, responsibility, and heart our Rockets continue to show! ✨

Second grade at the OKC Museum of Art 🎨✨
Gallery tour, a fun craft, and lots of creativity!

Some of our 7th and 8th graders competed in the NBA Math Hoops Regional Tournament at Devon Tower! One of our 7th grade teams made it to the semi-finals! All of the teams represented John Rex proudly!

We are thrilled to announce two incredible leaders joining the future of John Rex Charter School!
Dr. Rhonda Hart will serve as the founding principal of John Rex High School and
Carmen Oswalt will join as our first Chief Academic Officer
Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, their leadership will help shape the next chapter of John Rex in downtown OKC.
We can’t wait to see our vision come to life as we continue building a school community rooted in excellence, opportunity, and impact.

Today was an amazing day at the Oklahoma City Zoo! 🦒☀️ Our 3rd graders participated in the Making Tracks program, where they’ve been learning all about African animals. They loved exploring Expedition Africa and seeing these incredible animals up close! We wrapped up our trip by enjoying lunch and exploring the rest of the zoo on this beautiful, sunny day. It was a day full of learning, curiosity, and fun! 🐾🌿

Kindergarten had a busy week full of fun! 🌷 We took a trip to the Myriad Gardens to see the beautiful tulips, planted seeds with Ms. Audas in our garden, and enjoyed a visit to the library. So many hands-on learning moments and sweet memories made!
