🏆⚾ **PAL BASEBALL CHAMPIONS!** ⚾🏆

What a way to make history! In our **first year back competing in the PAL League**, the John Rex Baseball Team brought home the **CHAMPIONSHIP** this past Saturday! 🥇🚀

We are incredibly proud of these boys for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork throughout the season. A huge congratulations to our players and coaches on an amazing accomplishment!

Spanish, a Cultural Experience!

What an amazing nine weeks of learning, creativity, and cultural discovery in Spanish!

Our 5th and 6th graders worked collaboratively to create a colorful bulletin board, explored the fascinating world of Alebrijes (magical creatures from Mexican folk art), and designed their own unique creations!

They also discovered the art of making piñatas, learned how they are used in traditional celebrations in Guatemala, and created their very own piñatas!

To wrap up our incredible nine weeks, students enjoyed delicious Mexican snacks, including DoriLocos, along with some of the most beloved aguas frescas in Hispanic culture.

Through art, hands-on projects, collaboration, and food, our Rockets discovered that learning Spanish is about so much more than learning a language. It's about experiencing the traditions, creativity, and flavors that make Hispanic cultures so special!

Healthy Choices Week is coming to John Rex October 26–30! As we recognize National Red Ribbon Week, we’re celebrating the theme “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. From taking care of our bodies and minds to making safe choices and looking out for others, we’re reminding our Rockets that everyday choices can make a big difference!

Friday night at the John Rex Fall Festival! 🍂🎃 A huge thank-you to all of our volunteers, students, and families who came out to support this amazing event! We’re also incredibly grateful to our PTA parents and Parent and Community Outreach Committee for creating such a fun evening for our school community. 🧡💙 We loved seeing everyone come together to make it such a special night! 🚀

Our 4th graders visited the Oklahoma National Memorial. They had the opportunity to learn about the April 19, 1995 bombing, the aftermath, the power of resilience, and the Oklahoma Standard.

⚽🚀 What a special way to wrap up the season! The John Rex PAL 6th Grade Soccer team welcomed some special visitors from the OCU soccer team to their final practice! Coach Aynslee, a former OCU player, brought some of her former teammates out to help coach and encourage our Rockets. What an incredible opportunity and a memorable experience for these young athletes!

Ms. Boyd & Mrs. Morris' 4th Grade Classes visited our Downtown Library to check out books! Our students are always excited to read and explore new genres, along with practicing their comprehensive skills by completing an activity with our fun librarians!

🌳🧺 Pre-K Picnic at Myriad Botanical Gardens! 🌞💚

2nd graders collaborated to create fun text feature collages to go along with our reading skill of the week! 📚✂️✨ We loved seeing their creativity and teamwork come together!

Last Friday morning, our 3rd graders put on a wonderful performance at Blastoff! They performed rhythmic dances, sang songs in Spanish, displayed artwork, and showcased original compositions to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. They dedicated a lot of time to make this Blastoff performance one to remember, and their hard work truly paid off!

Thank you to our 3rd graders for their hard work, focus, and exceptional performance. Thank you to parents and families who came and supported the students, and thank you to the specials teachers for their dedication and teamwork in creating and teaching each component of the performance.

🌱🥕 Harvesting more than vegetables—we’re growing memories! 🥕🌱 Our second graders loved picking fresh veggies from our school garden and seeing the fruits of their hard work. From little seeds to a big harvest, our Second Graders are growing, learning, and having so much fun along the way! 💚🌿
