This week in math class, 8th grade students used VR headsets to bring math to life! They used hands on skills to find the rate of change in different situations!

John Rex LOVES the Thunder! We celebrated the NBA Champs at our school on the parade route!

Kylie Smith was selected to represent the OKC Thunder at the NBA Math Hoops Global Championship in NYC this June! NBA Math Hoops is a board game developed by @learn_fresh - in partnership with @okcthunder and @devonenergy - using real life NBA and WNBA stats along with foundational math skills. Our 8th grade students practice their math skills, data analysis, and teamwork while playing Math Hoops in Mrs. Nelson’s math class each week. Kylie will compete with students from all over the world in this global tournament! We are so proud of Kylie and wish her the best of luck in NYC! She will represent John Rex and the Thunder well!

We had visitors from Lyric Theatre yesterday! They brought their crew and put on a show with our student volunteers!

Being next-door neighbors with the Myriad Gardens means lots of Tulip Fest visits!

Our second grade classes have been attending the Safety Around The Water program at the YMCA! It's been a great opportunity for our students to work with a community partner while having fun and preparing for those summer pool days!

It's planting season at John Rex Elementary School! Over 500 students will roll up their sleeves and begin planting seeds in our greenhouse. With over 150 different seed varieties, we’re planting more than 3,000 seeds this month alone, with even more to come in April. If all goes well, we’ll be hosting a plant sale in April, where you can take home some of our hard work! Stay tuned for updates as our green thumbs grow!
