Guidance Book Buddies: A leadership and mentoring program that partners some 6th grade students with kindergarten classrooms to read character-focused books together. Through weekly visits, older students model positive behaviors, build leadership skills, and help younger students develop a love of reading. An added bonus is that they also teach life skills to the younger students through the character books.

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his enduring call for justice, dignity, and opportunity for all.
At John Rex Charter School, our diverse community reflects the future Dr. King envisioned; one that requires continued learning, listening, and action. We celebrate how far we’ve come and recognize the important work still to do.
