John Rex's Sport and Music Open House is TONIGHT!
Is your child interested in trying a new sport? Learning a new instrument? Making new friends? Taking voice lessons? Becoming healthier and more active? Come tonight to talk to local organizations about what they have to offer! See you at 5:30 in the Elementary School gym.
7th grade science students are using marshmallows to model sodium and chlorine ions as they build extended structures. Through this hands-on activity, they’re visualizing how a repeated pattern extends a structure.
Third Grade has been focusing on the Life Principle of the Month- Kindness and Friendship. These Rockets earned Golden Tickets for demonstrating and setting a great example this month! 🧡🚀
It was a HAPPY week in 3rd grade! We started our school year off with a Hat Day, All Star Twins, Pajama Day, Pattern Day & You Day. We're excited for a great school year!
Last week we kicked off our recycling program at our Blast Off Assembly! Through our partnership with Scissortail Park, we’ll be collecting fruits and vegetables from our cafeteria to be composted and given a second life. Our goal: 1,500 pounds! Let’s see what our students can do!

Growing Without Soil!
Students are getting hands-on with one of our 15 hydroponic growing systems! They learned how the Gardyn Hydroponic System uses special grow lights and why plant placement matters when helping plants grow healthy and strong.

John Rex's Sport and Music Open House is less than a week away!
On Wednesday, September 2, we are hosting several sport and music organizations here in the John Rex gym to network with our students and families. They will be here from 5:30-7:00 PM with handouts, flyers, demonstrations, lesson and league information, and representatives to answer any questions you may have! This night is free to you and a come-and-go event.
Here are some of the amazing organizations that will be in attendance : Onyx Butterfly Studios (instrument, voice, acting lessons), School of Rock (instrument and voice lessons), Kindermusik (music lessons for pre-school siblings), Riversport (kayaking), OKC Fencing Club, High Plains Rock Climbing, Tiger Jung's Tae Kwon Do, Sweet Yield Dance Studio, John Rex Athletics, i9 Sports (offers many sports), YMCA (offers many sports), and OKC Parks and Recreation Dept. (offers sport and music opportunities).
If you would like to learn more about what any of these institutions have to offer, please come this next Wednesday, September 2, to the John Rex Elementary School Gym. The Sheridan gate on the north side of our school campus will open at 5:30 PM.

Our Rockets proudly took the stage at ISTELive with four incredible presentation teams, sharing how leadership, innovation, technology, and student voice are transforming learning every day at John Rex Charter School. Presenters included our third grade student leadership team, the Rocket Rangers, alongside Ms. Goode, Mrs. Alexander, and Mr. Kellert; two presentations led by our third grade teachers, Miss Reese, Mrs. Villanueva, Mrs. Nelson, and Ms. Clanton; and a presentation led by Ms. Audas and Mr. Duffy.
As one of the world's largest educational technology conferences, the International Society for Transforming Education brings together thousands of educators from around the globe to share ideas shaping the future of education. This year, John Rex students and staff didn't just attend. They led conversations, represented Oklahoma with pride, and showcased the innovative learning happening at John Rex.
From Oklahoma to Orlando, our Rockets showed what's possible when students and staff are empowered to lead! 🚀

What a fun night at the Comets game! ⚾️ We loved celebrating our Rising Rocket MVPs- a group of amazing 3rd graders who exemplify our 8 Expectations and Great Expectations every day. We are so proud of the leadership, character, and growth they showed this year. Congratulations, Rockets! 🚀
Summer hasn't stopped us. We harvested 95 beets and radishes for Chef Beau at 74 Sports Kitchen.
Super Kids Day was a success! Thank you to all of our volunteers and teachers who made this day fun and enjoyable for all our John Rex Rockets.

8th grade had the best time making memories on their last week of school! We walked all over downtown. We saw Super Mario Galaxy at Harkins Theater, visited the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, had fun with a photo scavenger hunt at Myriad Gardens, and finished the week with an 8th grade picnic at Myriad Gardens! We will miss our amazing 8th graders, but wish them the very best on their next chapter.
Our students were able to walk down to Bicentennial Park for a Playoff Pop-Up hosted by Okc Parks 💙🏀 Students loved getting free playoff posters and OKC Parks gear while celebrating all the playoff excitement together! Fun in downtown OKC ✨
Our first graders took an exciting journey into the world of hatching chicks through the 4-H Youth Development at Oklahoma County OSU Extension Service! Over 20–22 days, students tracked embryo development, candled eggs, created time-lapses of the chicks’ first pip, and prepared a cozy brooder for their arrival. One of their favorite moments was reading to the chicks! This hands-on experience brought science to life in the most memorable way. 🐣📚
